Sites with weblinks

Generally speaking, the best sites are closest to the top of each of the following sections:
Commercially run sites
Other useful sites
LEA Grid for Learning Sites
School sites
Commercially run sites
schoolzone.co.uk - 40,000 educational websites on the database - most of these reviewed by teachers. Highly recommended portal
educate.org - A great site with links and lesson plans but its main selling point is that it is so easy to find something useful. Simply click on "schools" then "primary" and you can then go through subject areas which are divided into QCA and NC strands. You need to register but this is free.
primaryideas.co.uk - A great find! Resources, lesson plans, ideas and weblinks for every curriculum area plus whole-school issues such as assessment.
schoolslinks.co.uk - A well organised site with good coverage of all curriculum subjects. Loads of resources including some very well chosen weblinks.
byteachers.org.uk - Websites created and maintained by teachers in England. Free resources!
sitesforteachers.com - Links to sites with free resources, worksheets, activities and clip art. Rated by teachers - only placed this low because it has an American bias.
educationalindex.com/K-6 - Primary weblinks chosen and briefly reviewed in alphabetical order.
educationalindex.com/resources - Educational Index's list of subjects.
teacherxpress.com - Literally hundreds of links organised by category.
instructorweb.com - Teaching tools, resources and links.
topmarks.co.uk - Search engine for educational sites. Does the job very well.
teachingandlearningresources.co.uk - Good KS2-based site with lots of interactive resources and PowerPoint shows aimed mainly at the core subjects but generally good. NLS/NNS references are given where appropriate. My favourite thing is the Millionaire quiz.
kevinsplayroom.co.uk - Another amazing portal with over 2,000 links for children, teachers and other adults. Kevin's playroom is organised by subject and there is an awful lot there.
linksforkids.co.uk - 300 different categories of safe websites for children.
TES weblinks - When the Times Educational Supplement reviews or refers to websites they can be found here.

Other useful sites with links
One Stop Lesson Shop - This is a good start and when it's more mature it will probably enter the halls of fame. Here two primary school teachers share resources and information that they have needed for their teaching.
Jo Edkins' Page - An ecclectic assortment of sites on aspects of History (Egyptians, Romans, Celts, Kings & Queens, Shakespeare), Maths (symmetry, pictograms and tesselation) and Science (circuits and light)
coregroupone.co.uk - site set up by primary trainees at Manchester University. This link takes you to the very comprehensive page with a searchable database of useful websites.
linksforeducation (MSN Group) - Hundreds of links for useful resources, information, activitities and lesson plans. This site is particularly good for IWB users.
pgce.tv - useful and interesting links arranged by curriculum area.
ronan.tk - useful and interesting links for primary teachers.

Hertfordshire Grid for Learning - Brilliant website offering links and resources organised by QCA module.
Kent Grid for Learning - A 5-star site with links and content. Covers the whole curriculum with few gaps. Highly recommended.
Birmingham Grid for Learning - Well chosen links for English, Maths and Science.
North Yorkshire Grid for Learning - Another decent GFL site with links and resources.
Wirral LEA - A reasonable portal site with lots of ICT-driven lesson ideas, schemes of work, useful documents plus tried and tested links.
Haringey Learning - Another useful portal with links to resources by subject.

School websites
Coxhoe School - hundreds of topic and subject-specific links on a fairly basic but very useful site.
Ambleside School - almost as legendary as the Coxhoe site; does the same job but differently and slightly less comprehensively.
Woodlands School - Similar to the Coxhoe site but more actual content than links.
Croft School - similar to but smaller than Coxhoe and Ambleside. It has a great Barnaby Bear feature!
Snaith Primary - Lots of topic-based content and some superb links to educational and fun sites.
