Getting Started

The busy teacher's guide to the IWB - A great "how to" guide for beginners or those looking to refresh their IWB skills and knowledge.

The Review Project - The University of Hull conducted a 2-year review into the use of IWBs in all subjects. There are lots of stimulating ideas and examples of best practice (click on "Case Studies" to find information on a particular subject).

Content suitable for all IWBs

iwb.org.uk - The mother of all IWB sites! Collates the best links and resources from all around the web in an easy to use menu structure.

National Whiteboard Network - Groovy downloads for interactive whiteboards.

School Zone - Brilliant IWB Resources search engine.

topmarks.co.uk - Well organised links to IWB activities and presentations for core and many foundation subjects.

ictgames.co.uk - High quality online games for KS1, mainly for Maths and English but with some for the foundation subjects.

Birmingham Grid for Learning - Well chosen links to IWB content for English, Maths and Science.

taskmagic.co.uk - Create your own educational games for pupils to play at school or home - generates a variety of games and exercises (up to 14) from one set of inputs. There is a free 30-day trial available to download.

E Chalk primary products - Great English, Maths and Science IWB resources; my favourite of which is the insult generator - this can be used for work on adjectives, nouns and verbs. Some need to be purchased to access all features.

Oxfordshire LEA - Dozens of SMART notebook files, planning and other good quality ICT resources.

Middlesborough New Deal Zone - A collection of decent resources for teaching literacy and numeracy. The site is highly recommended for Smart Notebook content relating to the former.
