Google Images - Bigger than Getty Images but with potential copyright issues.
Picsearch.com - Search engine for graphics and images.
imagespeller.com - Type in any word and see it spelled out in different types of letters formed by various images.
Flickr Creative Commons - Free to use images for non-profit purposes.
openphoto.net - Free to use images for non-profit purposes.
Stock Exchange - Free to use images for non-profit purposes.
jasonhawkes.com - Stunning aerial photography of impressive buildings and landscapes.
animationfactory.com - A range of clipart and animations to use in onscreen presentations and in making worksheets more interesting.

Nottingham Council Library - Links to several websites with freely downloadable MP3 and WAV sound effect files.
Creative commons - as above: free to use music, photographs and text.
allofmp3.com Very cheap and legal (according to the BBC) MP3 download site: entire albums available for just over 60p and indvidual tracks cost around 10p. As at 4th April 2006 there were 500,000 tracks listed.

Open Source Movies - Around 20,000 movies of different types.
BBC Broadband - You need a password for this site but there are hundreds of clips, which are searchable by QCA module or topic.
BBC Schools Archive - Multimedia clips that can be edited online - this great fun!
Open Video Project - Another postential source of video for use on IWBs or in the ICT suite.
Windows Movie Maker Tutorial - A useful starting point for teachers wanting to learn more about Windows Movie Maker.
Scran - "Scran is a learning resource base and toolset with 336,500 images, movies and sounds from museums, galleries, archives and the media."
BBC History Clips - Great stuff but there isn't much of it.
BBC Motion Gallery - A reasonable number of free video reels on a variety of subjects.
Pathe News - 3,500 hours of news dating from 1896 to 1970.
British Universities Film Database - List of over 170,000 news items and links to many online video sources.
Getty Images Film Archive - As with Getty Images but moving pictures.
French Pathe Archive - Similar to the British Pathe News Archive.
Learning Curve - Great for WWII and British Empire clips.
Centre for British Film and Television Studies - Browse by theme or keyword. Especially good for public information films.
British Universities Film Gateway - Collates many different sources and allows user to search in one sitting.
IWF - 8,500 scientific clips for teachers and researchers, many with storyboard and online editing function.
PBS - Nova Science programming on a variety of subjects.
Education Media Online - Film and sound for download plus an online sound and picture studio.
